Defiance

White man dies and the world starts caring,
Black man dies and the world keeps spinning.
I’m tired of this spinning and I’m tired of this turning,
We’ve ended up with the whole world burning.
But you continue to sell weapons to dictators,
Who fuel the ideology of those who hate us.
Illegal wars that lead to war and more,
But you never expected the violence would come back to our shore.
My heart aches for the lives we’ve lost,
My heart aches for the lines we’ve crossed,
In this war on terror that has created more death,
But I’ll defend my rights till I run out of breath.
My soul quivers when they use His name,
To murder the innocent with no shame,
And we’ll keep condemning it but is it all in vain,
When we choose our allies based on material gain,
Profits and weapons and that ‘strategic alliance’.
Don’t blame me when I stand in defiance,
Against the hypocrisy and the outright manipulation,
To serve certain interests against those of the nation.
I pray for love, peace, unity and humanity,
No faith, my faith, Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity.
It is united we stand and divided we fall,
So stand with me and let’s stand tall.
Don’t let them break us, don’t let them make us,
Into something we aren’t, a bunch of haters.
Time not to repeat history and God willing we will learn
In the end, it is from God we come and to God we return.
